The Twenty-seventh meeting of the North Atlantic Safety Oversight Group (NAT SOG/27) was held on the premises of NAV CANADA Head Office in Ottawa, Canada from 6 to 9 December 2022.

The 4th meeting of the European Aviation System Planning Group (EASPG) took place in the premises of the ICAO Regional Office in Paris from 29 November to 1 December 2022.

The first meeting of the South Atlantic Implementation Monitoring Group SAT IMG was organized, with the support of ASECNA, in Abidjan, Cote D´Ivoire from 21 to 24 November 2022.

The Thirty-Seventh Meeting of the Data Management Group (DMG/37) of the Meteorology Group (METG) was held virtually from 22 to 24 November 2022.

North Atlantic Economic, Financial And Forecast Group (NAT EFFG) /43, Paris, France – 9 to 10 November 2022

A familiarization visit was organized for the EUROCONTROL State liaison Focal Points from 13 States on 9 November in the EUR/NAT Office.

The 27th meeting of the North Atlantic Scrutiny Group (NAT SG/27) was held on the premises of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in Cambridge, United States, from 24 to 28 October 2022.

The meeting of the North Atlantic Implementation Management Group (NAT IMG/61) was hosted by Canada and held in Ottawa from 1 to 4 November 2022.

ICAO, in cooperation with IAC, conducted a workshop on development and implementation of National Aviation Safety Plans (NASPs). This workshop, organized in the framework of the ICAO-IAC Project, was held in Baku, Azerbaijan from 15 to 17 November 2022.

The tenth EUR/NAT Aviation Security (AVSEC) Group meeting (ENAVSECG/10) was held in the ICAO EUR/NAT premises in Paris from 1 to 4 November 2022.

The ICAO EUR/NAT Regional Director, Mr. Nicolas Rallo, represented ICAO in a panel on air transport sustainability and environmental protection together with other senior officials, including Mr. Henrik Hololei (Director General for Mobility and Transport at the European Commission) and Mr. Damien Cazé (Director General of Civil Aviation of France).

Frontex hosted the 25th International Border Police Conference in Warsaw, bringing together over 260 border and coast guard executives from all around the world, as well as representatives of international organizations and EU bodies.

The ICAO EUR/NAT VOLCEX22 Preparation Workshop was held in Madrid, Spain with hybrid capabilities from 17 to 18 October 2022.

The Thirtieth-second Meeting of the Meteorology Group (METG/32) of the European Region Aviation System Planning Group (EASPG) was held at the ICAO EUR/NAT Regional Office in Paris from 20 to 23 September 2022.

The Twenty Eighth Meeting of the ICAO EASPG Frequency Management Group (FMG/28) combined with the Twenty Second Meeting of the Network Manager Radio Frequency Function Team (RAFT/22) was held from 20 to 22 September 2022 at the EUROCONTROL Headquarters in Brussels, as hybrid meeting.

The eleventh meeting of the EUR Search and Rescue Task Force (EUR SAR TF/11) was held in the ICAO European and North Atlantic Regional Office (ICAO EUR/NAT) on 15 and 16 September 2022.

The Symposium was attended by 71 Participants from 19 States and 11 Organizations/Industry.

The eighth Aviation Security (AVSEC) Seminar for the Eastern European, Central Asian, Balkan and Baltic area of the European region was conducted from 6 to 8 July, hosted by Latvia in Riga and was attended by 42 participants from 10 States.

The successful regulatory reforms of the Hellenic Civil Aviation Authority (HCAA) and the means to achieve further progress were the focus of discussions between ICAO Secretary General Juan Carlos Salazar, the Minister of Infrastructure and Transport of Greece Kostas Karamanlis, HCAA Governor Christos Tsitouras, and ICAO Europe and North Atlantic Regional Director Nicolas Rallo.

The fourth meeting of the European Aviation System Planning Coordination Group (EASPG PCG/04) was held in Bonn, Germany, from 7 to 8 June 2022.

The Second meeting of the Regional Working Group on Aerodrome Operations (RWGAO/02) was held in a hybrid format in the ICAO European and North Atlantic office from 16 to 17 June 2022.

The Twentieth Meeting of the Project Team on Implementation of Meteorological Services in the Eastern Part of the EUR Region (PT/EAST/20) of the Meteorology Group (METG) was held virtually from 29 to 30 June 2022. The meeting was attended by fifty-seven (57) participants from ten (10) States and ICAO.

The North Atlantic System Planning Group met on 28-30 June 2022.

A Special Atlantic Coordination Meeting with participation of States providing air navigation services in the North and South Atlantic was held on 23-24 June 2022 in Spain.

The ICAO EUR/NAT Regional Office, in coordination with the Implementation Support and Development – Security (ISD-SEC) section of ICAO Headquarters, organized two ICAO Aviation Security training courses for national experts of Montenegro on a cost recovery basis.

The Universal Security Audit Programme – Continuous Monitoring Approach (USAP-CMA) seminar was held in the ICAO EUR/NAT office in Paris from 30 May to 2 June 2022.

The seventh meeting of the Accident Investigation Panel (AIGP) was held in the ICAO European and North Atlantic office from 24 to 27 May 2022. It was the first time that the AIGP met outside of ICAO Headquarters.

The ICAO European and North Atlantic (EUR/NAT) Regional Office organized jointly with the Interstate Aviation Committee (IAC) a Workshop on Aerodrome Certification in Baku, Azerbaijan, from 16 to 18 May 2022.

Civil aviation regulators of 42 States gathered at a recent meeting of the Directors General of Civil Aviation of the ICAO European and North Atlantic (EUR/NAT) Regions.

The 2022 EASPG Frequency Management Group Coordination Meeting (FMG CM 2022) combined with the Twenty-First Meeting of the Network Manager Radio Frequency Function (RAFT/21) was held in the ICAO EUR/NAT Premises in a hybrid format from 16 to 19 May 2022.

The ICAO Secretary General, Mr. Juan Carlos Salazar and the newly appointed ICAO EUR/NAT Regional Director, Mr. Nicolas Rallo, met with Dr. Christos Tsitouras, General Director of the Hellenic Civil Aviation Authority (HCAA) and Ms. Kalliopi Lykou, Director Finance, HCAA.

The Second meeting of the Regional Aviation Safety Plan Working Group (RESG RASP WG/02) was be held in the ICAO European and North Atlantic office from 16 to 17 May 2022. Remote attendance possibility was also offered to those unable to attend in person.

On 19 April the ICAO EUR/NAT office in coordination with the chair people of the ECHO initiative Working Group (WG) conducted a webinar in English and Russian languages with simultaneous interpretation.

A "Runway Safety Seminar: Technological View" was held in the ICAO European and North Atlantic Office in Paris, France on 22-24 March 2022.

A dedicated workshop on the SSPIA for the EUR/NAT States was held in the ICAO European and North Atlantic Office in Paris from 14 to 16 March 2022.

The Data Management Group (DMG) of the Meteorology Group (METG) conducted DMG/35 through a series of 6 video conference calls from 15 to 17 March 2022

The ICAO EUR/NAT Regional Office has organized a technical assistance workshop to support Azerbaijan in strengthening its safety oversight and accident investigation capabilities.

The VOLCEX21 Debrief, VOLCEX22 Planning and VOLCEX/SG/16 Meetings were held virtually on 2, 3 and 11 February 2022.

The Third Meeting of the European Aviation System Planning Group (EASPG) took place in the ICAO EUR/NAT premises in a hybrid format from 30 November to 2 December 2021.

ENAVSECG 09 took place virtually from 07 to 10 December 2021.

The 7th edition of ICAO/EUROCONTROL ASBU monitoring report was endorsed during the Third Meeting of the European Aviation System Planning Group (EASPG/3) in December 2021.

As a result of the work from a dedicated Project Team, the Third Meeting of the European Aviation System Planning Group (EASPG/3) in December 2021 approved the publication of a new EUR OPS Bulletin 2021_001 on Loss of Communication Procedures.

The Thirty-Ninth meeting of the Language Proficiency Requirements Implementation Task Force (LPRI TF/39) was held jointly with EASA, via teleconference from 8 to 10 November 2021.

The ICAO EUR/NAT Acting Regional Director, Capt. Denis Guindon and the Deputy Regional Director, Mr. Elkhan Nahmadov, met with Mr. Raul Medina Caballero, General Director of the Civil Aviation Authority of Spain.

The ICAO EUR/NAT Acting Regional Director, Capt. Denis Guindon and the Deputy Regional Director, Mr. Elkhan Nahmadov, met with Prof. Dr. Kemal YÜKSEK, Director General of the Civil Aviation, DGCA of Turkey, and Mr. Alpaslan ÇELEBİ, Director of International Relations Department, DGCA of Turkey.

ICAO and ECAC organized a joint meeting on State Action Plans comprising the third SAP Information Seminar of the ECAC Environmental Forum and the ICAO EUR/NAT ENV Task Force Meeting on State Action Plans.

ICAO EUR/NAT Office has organized jointly with ACAO a technical assistance mission on environment to support Morocco developing their States Action Plans on CO2 emissions reduction from international aviation.

ICAO EUR/NAT Office has organized jointly with the Arab Civil Aviation Organization (ACAO) a technical assistance workshop on environment to support the Maghreb States using the CORSIA Central Registry.

The Data Management Group (DMG) of the Meteorology Group (METG) conducted DMG/34 through a series of 5 video conference calls from 19 to 21 October 2021.

ECHO/03 was conducted in a hybrid mode from 7 to 8 October 2021 at the EUR/NAT Regional Office

The EASPG Regional Expert Safety Group (RESG) – Second Meeting (EASPG RESG/02), combined with National Aviation Safety Plan (NASP) development workshop, was held in hybrid mode from 21-23 September 2021.

The ICAO EUR/NAT VOLCEX21 Preparation Workshop was held in Reykjavik, Iceland with hybrid capabilities from 5 to 6 October 2021.

This ICAO EUR/NAT Virtual Runway Safety Action Team (RSAT) Presentation was held online, via WebEx platform on 10 March 2021.

On 29 September 2021, the ICAO EUR/NAT Office together with EASA organised a DGCA Conference on Crisis Coordination and Response. The meeting was attended by 140 participants from 40 States and 7 International and Regional Organisations.

The TAIEX Multi-beneficiary Workshop on Aviation Security Culture was was held on 28 September 2021, organized by the European Commission, the Civil Aviation Agency of North Macedonia and the ICAO EUR/NAT Office.

The Thirtieth-First Meeting of the Meteorology Group (METG/31) of the European Region Aviation System Planning Group (EASPG) was held virtually from 21 to 24 September 2021.

The 27th Meeting of the European Aviation System Planning Group Frequency Management Group combined with the Twentieth Meeting of the Network Manager Radio Frequency Function Group met virtually from 21 to 23 September 2021.

Throughout the COVID-19 crisis, ICAO and EASA continued enhancing their cooperation to assist States of the region to maintain and improve their safety oversight systems. The ICAO - EASA Joint pan-European National Continuous Monitoring Coordinator meetings (E-NCMC) held virtually on 14 September 2021 is an illustration of this cooperation.

ICAO Secretary General Juan Carlos Salazar had his first mission in the EUR/NAT regions starting in Tirana, Albania to open the 70th Special Meeting of Directors General of Civil Aviation of the European Civil Aviation Conference (ECAC) on 26-28 August 2021.

​The North Atlantic Systems Planning Group (NAT SPG) met virtually for its 57th Meeting from 21 to 24 June 2021 to address a number of items in order to advance the overall NAT work programme.

The ICAO Regional Security Culture Seminar was organized from 30 June to 1 July by the EUR/NAT Regional Office in coordination with ICAO Headquarters Year of Security Culture (YOSC) Project Team.

The Twenty-fourth meeting of the North Atlantic Safety Oversight Group (NAT SOG/24) was held via teleconference sessions from 01 to 04 June 2021.

The Data Management Group (DMG) of the Meteorology Group (METG) conducted DMG/33 through series of 6 video conference calls from 15 to 17 June 2021.

The Webinar on Implementation of the New Global Reporting Format (GRF) for Runway Surface Conditions in the EUR Region was held in English, French and Russian from 18 to 20 May 2021.

The EUR/NAT DGCA/2021-2 meeting was held on 19 May 2021 with the main objective of presenting and discussing the CART Phase III status of implementation in the EUR/NAT Region.

From 20 to 23 April an ICAO Regional Facilitation Implementation seminar was conducted in close cooperation between ICAO Headquarters and the Regional Office.

“Continuing the successful experience of joint events held in previous years, the ICAO EUR/NAT Regional Office together with Interstate Aviation Committee (IAC) held an Aircraft Accident and Incident Investigation (AIG) workshop conducted via virtual online platform on 12-14 April 2021.

The Data Management Group (DMG) of the Meteorology Group (METG) conducted DMG/33 through series of 7 video conference calls from 22 to 25 March 2021.

The thirty-eighth meeting of the Language Proficiency Requirements Implementation Task Force (LPRI TF/38) was held on 17-18 March 2021 via a teleconference.

The current crisis has prompted many governments to introduce unprecedented measures to contain the pandemic. These priority measures, which are imposed by a public health emergency, have left little room for other sectors, including appropriate funding for civil aviation.

The EUR/NAT DGCA/2021-1 meeting was held via Webex on 24 February 2021 with the main objectives to discuss the issues pertaining to the transportation of COVID-19 vaccines by air and share experience and lessons learnt.
