The ICAO EUR/NAT Regional Director, Mr. Nicolas Rallo, represented ICAO in a panel on air transport sustainability and environmental protection together with other senior officials, including Mr. Henrik Hololei (Director General for Mobility and Transport at the European Commission) and Mr. Damien Cazé (Director General of Civil Aviation of France). This panel was held during the second "Sommet Aeronautique et Spatial de Bordeaux Metropole" - Bordeaux Metropole Aviation and Space International Summit (https://sommet-aeronautique-bordeaux.fr/). The panel was moderated by Mr. Pierre Cheminade, from "La Tribune" (https://www.latribune.fr/).
Mr. Rallo presented the key outcomes of the 41th session of the ICAO Assembly, including the adoption of a Long Term Aspirational Goal (LTAG) of net zero CO2 emissions of international civil aviation by 2050 as well as the review of the ICAO Carbon Offsetting and Reduction Scheme for International Aviation (CORSIA). He highlighted the leadership role and key activities of ICAO in this matter, including with respect to global harmonization, assistance to States (through programmes such as ACT-CORSIA and ACT-SAF as well as assistance to States for the development their State Action Plans) and support to innovation.
