DMG/34 video conference calls – 19 to 21 October 2021

The Data Management Group (DMG) of the Meteorology Group (METG) conducted DMG/34 through a series of 5 video conference calls from 19 to 21 October 2021. Participants from Algeria, Austria, Belgium, France, Romania, the Russian Federation, the United Kingdom and ICAO contributed to the following:


  • Review of OPMET Traditional Alphanumeric Code (TAC) format to ICAO Meteorological Information Exchange Model (IWXXM) format agreements that may be extended to November 2022;

 

  • Regional OPMET Centers (ROC)s are in the process of reviewing States' IWXXM implementation survey results in order to assist, where possible, States in implementing IWXXM before METG/34 (September 2023);

     
  • Liaise with the AFS to SWIM Transition Task Force (AFS TF) on inter-regional exchange of OPMET data in IWXXM format by increasing the number of Inter-Regional OPMET Gateways (IROG)s;

     
  • ROCs to identify and resolve issues related to missing OPMET data that is required as per the EUR Air Navigation Plan before the annual February OPMET monitoring period;

     
  • Progress on the implementation of ROC Moscow with a focus on the exchange of OPMET data with the three other ROCs in the EUR Region expected to be completed by the end of 2021;

     
  • Review and test of Regional OPMET Data Catalogue (RODC) application in order to facilitate ROCs and States on OPMET data exchange by only sending required OPMET data to States removing unnecessary OPMET data exchange; and

     
  • Express thanks to the Chair of DMG, Patrick Simon of Météo France, who served the group in an efficient, professional and kind manner and wish him well in his future endeavors.
