Accident Investigation Panel 7th meeting (AIGP/7) – 24 to 27 May 2022

​The seventh meeting of the Accident Investigation Panel (AIGP) was held in the ICAO European and North Atlantic office from 24 to 27 May 2022. It was the first time that the AIGP met outside of ICAO Headquarters.




In his opening remarks, the ICAO EUR/NAT Regional Director, Mr. Nicolas Rallo, thanked the 66 panel members, advisors and observers from 27 States and 7 international organizations who attended either in person in Paris or remotely. He shared with them key priorities for the Regional Office in the area of accident and incident investigation The AIGP/7 meeting participants continued their work for the development of ICAO provisions regarding accident and incident investigations (set forth in Annex 13 — Aircraft Accident and Incident Investigation and related documents), in support of the Global Aviation Safety Plan (GASP) implementation. The discussions led to proposed enhancements to Annex 13 provisions and/or ICAO guidance material in areas such as accident/incident reporting requirements (ADREP), the publication of Final Reports, the protection of accident and incident investigation records, the investigations in conflict of interest scenarios related to aircraft downings, acts of unlawful interferences during aircraft accident investigations, regional cooperation in accident and incident investigations and underwater accident investigations. The meeting also agreed to set up a working group to address recommendations stemming from the symposium on assistance to aircraft accident victims and their families held in Las Palmas De Gran Canaria, Spain from 1 to 3 December 2021.
