The CAEP/11 meeting will consider current work and final deliverables on tasks related to the following items.


Review of the assessments of the present and future impact of aircraft noise and emissions

  • Noise, Particulate Matter (PM), and Oxides of Nitrogen (NOx) trends projections, for various scenarios which consider technology and operational improvements;
  • CO2 emissions trends projections for various scenarios which consider technology, operational improvements and alternative fuels life-cycle;
  • ICAO environmental goals feasibility analysis; and
  • The conclusions from the an Independent Experts Integrated Technology Goals Assessment and Review for Engines and Aircraft (IEIR).

 

Environmental models and databases

  • Models and databases to be used in support of specific CAEP analyses
  • Updates to the ICAO Carbon Emissions Calculator.

 

Aircraft engine emissions

 

  • Amendments to Annex 16, Vol II and the Environmental Technical Manual (ETM), Volume II;
  • Amendments to Annex 16, Vol III and the Environmental Technical Manual (ETM), Volume III;
  • Assessment of advances in engine combustor design technologies for subsonic aircraft;
  • nvPM Regulatory Impact Assessment; and
  • Definition of emission standards for supersonic aircraft.
  • Amendments to Annex 16, Volume II and the Environmental Technical Manual (ETM), Volume II regarding the non-volatile Particulate Matter (nvPM) Standard; and
  • Amendments to Doc9889 regarding nvPM.

 

Aircraft noise

  • Amendments to Annex 16, Volume I and the Environmental Technical Manual (ETM), Volume I;
  • National and international noise research programme goals and milestones, and technology goals benchmarking;
  • Noise certification standards for supersonic aircraft;
  • Status of supersonic transport projects;
  • Research to characterize, quantify and measure sonic boom and its acceptability; and
  • Helicopter noise. 

 

Airports and operations

  • Environmental Community Engagement for Performance-Based Navigation;
  • Guidance on operational opportunities to reduce aircraft noise;
  • ASBU Block 1 environmental benefits analysis;
  • ATM efficiency and the environmental impact of uncompensated traffic growth;
  • Climate Change Adaptation Synthesis;
  • Eco-Airport Toolkit e-collection; and
  • Aircraft end-of-life and recycling.

 

CORSIA – Monitoring, reporting and verification (MRV)

  • ICAO CORSIA CO2 Estimation and Reporting Tool (CERT); and
  • Amendments to the Environmental Technical Manual (ETM), Volume IV.

 

CORSIA – Emissions unit

  • Informal testing of programmes against the emissions unit criteria;
  • Assessment of the supply, demand and price of units; and
  • Technical approaches to the management of EUC.

 

CORSIA – Registries

  • Registries for CORSIA;
  • Publication of data by ICAO and states; and
  • Registry requirements to facilitate application of the SARPs.
     

Sustainable aviation fuels

  • Methodologies for Life cycle analysis;
  • Low LUC risk practices;
  • Methodologies for calculating the benefits of Avoided Landfill Emissions and Recycling associated with Sustainable Aviation Fuels production; and
  • Definitions for classification of feedstocks.
  • Guidance on potential Policies and Coordinated Approaches for the Deployment of Sustainable Aviation Fuels; and
  • A "Report On Sustainability Themes, Principles And Criteria for Sustainable Aviation Fuels"

 

Current science related to aircraft noise​ emissions

  • White paper on Aviation Noise impacts; and
  • Potential long-term climate goal for international aviation.
  • Information contained in the 1999 report by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) on Aviation and the Global Atmosphere.

 

Decisions of the Council on the CAEP’s terms of reference (TOR), structure, membership and working methods, and election of Chairperson and Vice-Chairpersons

  • The meeting will be informed of the outcomes of the Council discussions regarding the CAEP's terms of reference (TOR), structure, membership and working methods.
     

Future work

  • Proposals from CAEP Members, observers, working groups and ICAO Secretariat for the CAEP/12 work programme.
