USOAP has been certified to the ISO 9001 standard for quality management systems since 2002. It is the first Programme within ICAO, and one of the very few within the United Nations, to receive such certification.
Recently, USOAP has undergone another surveillance audit, which has not identified any non-conformities and has recommended continued certification of the Programme.
A certified Quality Management System (QMS) ensures a focus on meeting stakeholders’ expectations, that best practices are proactively implemented, that processes are closely monitored and that activities are performed and managed in a more structured way.
The ISO re-certification is a sign of the Programme’s leadership determination to maintain and improve the quality and effectiveness of USOAP and to further improve the level of aviation safety worldwide.
