Finvest, an initiative of ICAO’s Secretary General aims to accelerate the financing of cleaner energy solutions for aviation, with a particular focus on developing Sustainable Aviation Fuels (SAF). By connecting project developers, investors, development finance institutions, and governments, Finvest aims to bridge the gap between aviation decarbonisation projects and the capital they need to develop. The initiative provides the potential for curated project pipelines, technical assistance, and matchmaking platforms with a focus on emerging and developing economies where opportunities are abundant however project development remains at an early stage.
As the specialized United Nations agency for international civil aviation, ICAO is uniquely positioned to convene governments, industry leaders, and financial institutions under a trusted multilateral framework. Finvest leverages ICAO’s global reach, policy expertise, and relationships with Member States to create a credible, neutral environment where stakeholders can collaborate on solutions that advance SAF project development and aviation decarbonisation.
