ICAO Assembly opens with Québec announcing major investment
The Government of Québec will directly support progress on aviation safety, security and sustainability worldwide by investing more than $35 million to host the International Civil Aviation Organization’s (ICAO) capacity-building and implementation offices.
The funding was announced at the opening of ICAO’s 42nd Assembly by the Minister of International Relations and la Francophonie Christopher Skeete of Québec.
Extending the organization’s “deepest gratitude to Minister Skeete, and through him, to Premier Legault and the Government of Québec, for this generous gesture,” ICAO Secretary General Juan Carlos Salazar declared that “continued support from Québec, Canada, and Montréal is crucial to ICAO as we pursue our vision of safe, secure and sustainable air connectivity for everyone, everywhere.”
