Airlines combatting human trafficking - by Kenya Airways

ICAO Annex 9 – Facilitation Recommended Practices 8.49 and 8.50 request that Contracting States “should take measures to ensure that procedures in place to combat trafficking in persons are based on a Comprehensive Strategy” and “should take measures to ensure that airport and aircraft operators’ personnel in direct contact with the travelling public are provided with awareness training on trafficking in persons”, respectively. This video highlights the commitment of one example airline, Kenya Airways, to combat trafficking in persons, as well as the cooperation with State authorities as part of a national strategy, in line with ICAO Annex 9 provisions. 

​Inauguration of the Year of Facilitation in Brazil

On March 25th, Brazil hosted an event to commemorate the 75th Anniversary of Annex 9. Organized by ANAC, the event inaugurated the Year of Facilitation in Brazil. It featured discussions about the role of facilitation in enhancing the efficiency of both Brazilian and international civil aviation. The ICAO SAM Regional Office contributed a presentation on the history of Annex 9 - Facilitation, exploring its past, present, and future: 75 years enabling air travel. Additionally, the event showcased findings from a survey on facilitation within the Brazilian air transport industry.
