ICAO CORSIA CO₂ Estimation and Reporting Tool (CERT)

This ICAO CORSIA Implementation Element is reflected in the ICAO document entitled "ICAO CORSIA CO2 Estimation and Reporting Tool", referenced in Annex 16, Volume IV.

The ICAO CORSIA CERT is developed for, and made available to, aeroplane operators to support the monitoring and reporting of their CO2 emissions.

The ICAO CORSIA CO2 Estimation Models (CEMs) is a set of equations underpinning the ICAO CORSIA CERT, which allow for the estimation of CO2 emissions as a function of Great Circle Distance for a given aircraft type. The 2018 Version of the ICAO CORSIA CEMs is available for download here.

Aeroplane operators can use version 2018 of the ICAO CORSIA CERT for the following purposes:

  • Assess whether MRV requirements (as reflected in Part II, Chapter 2 of Annex 16, Volume IV) are applicable to them.

  • Assess whether they are eligible to use the ICAO CORSIA CERT for the monitoring of CO2 emissions in the 2019-2020 period (in line with the information contained in Part II, Chapter 2, 2.2.1.2 of Annex 16, Volume IV).

  • Produce a summary assessment that can be appended to the aeroplane operator’s Emissions Monitoring Plan.
