Regional Aviation Safety Group – Asia Pacific (RASG-APAC)
Establishment
The Regional Aviation Safety Group – Asia Pacific (RASG-APAC) was established by the Council of ICAO, consistent with the Planning and Implementation Regional Group (PIRG) mechanism. The group convenes as required, typically concurrent with the Conference of Directors General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) for the Asia and Pacific Regions.
Objectives and Work Programme
In alignment with the Terms of Reference, RASG-APAC supports a performance-based safety system by analyzing regional hazards and reviewing action plans to mitigate risks. The group facilitates the sharing of safety data and experiences among stakeholders, ensuring that regional activities are coordinated to avoid duplication of effort. By encouraging collaboration and resource sharing between States and Industry, RASG-APAC maintains a data-driven work programme where priorities are determined through a rigorous risk analysis process to ensure a coherent regional safety framework.
Membership and Collaboration
The following entities are recognized as members and partners:
Member States & Territories: All ICAO Contracting States and recognized Territories within the Asia and Pacific Regions, or those providing facilities and services affecting the area.
International & Industry Partners: International and regional aviation organizations, including aircraft operators, MROs, manufacturers, airport and air navigation service providers (ANSPs), and professional associations for pilots and aviation staff.
Regional Organizations: Entities providing safety and investigation support, including Regional Safety Oversight Organizations (RSOOs), COSCAPs, and Regional Accident and Incident Investigation Organizations (RAIOs) within the region.
Structure and Organization
To achieve its mandate, RASG-APAC utilizes a specialized subsidiary structure that continuously performs the technical work.
