The Information Security Office ensures the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of ICAO's information—both digital and physical—by implementing internationally recognized best practices and continuously improving its security posture. Our vision is to safeguard ICAO’s operations, reputation, and stakeholders in an increasingly interconnected world.
Our objectives
- Protect ICAO’s digital and physical information assets proactively and efficiently, in alignment with the organization’s strategic goals and based on risk-informed methodologies.
- Preserve ICAO's reputation as a secure, trustworthy, and accountable international partner by managing secure communications and handling confidential information with professionalism and discretion.
- Comply with all applicable data protection laws, regulations, and United Nations system requirements.
- Enable ICAO to securely adopt and integrate emerging technologies—including cloud services and artificial intelligence—by embedding security into digital transformation initiatives.
- Promote a culture of cybersecurity awareness, resilience, and accountability throughout the organization.
Success story: ICAO achieves ISO/IEC 27001 certification
In June 2025, ICAO proudly obtained certification under the ISO/IEC 27001: 2022 standard—an internationally recognized benchmark for information security management systems (ISMS).
This milestone reflects our organization's commitment to:
