ICAO is celebrating International Women’s Day 2026 on Friday, March 6 under the theme “Charting Your Course: Empowerment Through Skill-Building and Leadership.” with the aim of inspiring women at all career stages to take chances, invest in their growth, and actively seek opportunities that align with their aspirations.
In a rapidly evolving technological sector, women’s career progression increasingly depends on continuous learning, adaptability, and access to strong mentorship and leadership networks. This year’s IWD celebration will therefore place a focus on skill-building, training, professional development, mentorship, and leadership for building resilient and future-ready careers. Together, we can build a supportive and skilled workforce ready to shape the future of aviation, while continuing to advance women’s empowerment around the world.
The event will feature two dynamic panels with participation from ICAO personnel, Council Members and industry leaders:
Panel I – Empowering Women from Within ICAO
The discussion will explore the importance of skill-based career development, how women can proactively invest in upskilling and professional growth, and the role of mentorship and leadership support within ICAO.
Panel II – Lessons from Leadership
This panel will focus on guidance and inspiration for emerging and mid-career women, highlighting practical insights on skills development, mentorship, career transitions, and leadership growth. Through personal experiences and candid reflections, panelists will encourage women to take chances, seek mentors and sponsors, and actively shape their career paths within the aviation sector.
The event will be livestreamed on ICAO TV and Sliq beginning at 1000 hours EST for those who wish to tune in virtually.
