AFI Aviation Week Events
Day 1: Monday - 27 July 2026:
Objectives:
- Review the latest developments in civil aviation, assess the evolution of aviation performance in the AFI region across all ICAO Strategic Goals, identify regional priorities for 2026–2027, and provide high-level strategic guidance on key sector challenges. The meeting is organized in coordination with AFCAC.
Participants:
- Director Generals of Civil Aviation Authorities of the AFI region/Africa, to be accompanied by technical experts as necessary, to take full advantage of the meeting’s deliberations; and
- Invited representatives of international and regional organizations, aviation stakeholders and industry.
Day 2 & 3: Tuesday - Wednesday 28 -29 July 2026:
AFI Aviation Symposium (click to view)
Objectives:
- Advance key aviation initiatives across Africa through the sharing of best practices, identification of implementation challenges, and development of practical solutions aimed at sustainably improving aviation performance in the AFI region. Panels and round tables will also examine the future of air transport in the AFI/African region within the framework of the ICAO 2026–2050 Strategic Plan
Participants:
- Director Generals of Civil Aviation Authorities from AFI region/Africa Member States; and
- Representatives from partner States, international and regional organizations, aviation stakeholders and industry.
Day 2: Tuesday - 28 July 2026:
Donors and Partners Dialogue (Parallel session)
Objectives:
- Solicit voluntary financial and in-kind contributions in support of priority activities under the AFI Safety Plan, the AFI SECFAL Plan and HRDF; strengthen partnerships with States, international organizations and industry stakeholders; reinforce African ownership; and promote sustainable financing of the AFI Plans.
Participants:
- AFI Plans Steering Committee Members;
- Director Generals of Civil Aviation Authorities from AFI region/Africa Member States;
- Invited Representatives of other Member States and International/Regional Organizations/Partners.
Day 3: Wednesday - 29 July 2026:
Third Meeting of AFI Plans Steering Committee (Parallel session -restricted participation)
Objectives:
- Review the progress of the AFI Safety Plan, the AFI SECFAL Plan and HRDF, including implementation of the 2026 work programmes and follow-up to decisions and recommendations of the previous Steering Committee meeting.
The deliberations will contribute to the consolidation of the main outcomes of AFI Aviation Week.
Participants:
- AFI Plans Steering Committee Members;
- Invited Representatives of other Member States and International/Regional Organizations/Partners.
Day 4: Thursday - 30 July 2026:
Outcomes and Roadmap of AFI Aviation Week
Objectives:
- Present in plenary the main outcomes of the meetings, commitments announced, agreed priorities, and a regional implementation roadmap for 2026–2027.
