Preparatory Webinar for ESAF States on ATCON/7

ATConf/7 will be convened from 16 to 20 November 2026 under the theme “Air Transport: Powering Global Connectivity, Economic Development and Resilience in a Dynamic World.” The Conference will provide a global platform for ICAO Member States and key stakeholders to engage in strategic dialogue on the future direction of international air transport.

Convened approximately once every decade, ATConf/7 represents a significant milestone in the formulation of global air transport policy. In anticipation of this landmark event, the ICAO Eastern and Southern African (ESAF) Regional Office organized a two‑hour virtual preparatory webinar on 19 May 2026, from 12:00 to 14:00 UTC, to initiate early engagement and support informed participation by States.

The preparatory webinar aimed to:

• Brief States on the objectives, structure, and expected deliverables of ATConf/7;
• Discuss regional priorities, challenges, and opportunities in air transport development;
• Outline key preparatory requirements and timelines; and
• Facilitate coordination toward the development of common priorities to be shared at the African Air Transport Convention & Expo 2026 (8–12 June 2026, Lomé, Togo), a continental event coordinated by AFCAC.
