The ICAO TRIP Regional Symposium, hosted by the Government of Kazakhstan, will address the five elements of the ICAO Traveller Identification Programme (ICAO TRIP) Strategy: robust evidence of identity processes, machine readable travel document (MRTD) standards, specifications and best practices, secure travel document issuance, as well as information sharing technologies in addition to health proof issuance and validation.
In line with the relevant UN Security Council resolutions that re-affirmed the importance of border control to combat terrorism, the Regional Symposium will provide an opportunity to enhance international and regional cooperation and collaboration to address the threats faced by international civil aviation. It includes the promotion of the global regulatory framework established by Annex 9 — Facilitation to the Convention on International Civil Aviation. It will also highlight border integrity and border control management challenges, such as the implementation of Advanced Passenger Information (API) systems.

Seminar speakers and facilitators include top experts in the field, policy makers and senior managers, practitioners and researchers, many from the relevant ICAO TRIP working groups as well as international organizations.
