Enhancing the efficiency of language services delivery


LP increased the number of staff translators who are also qualified interpreters, ensuring more efficiency and flexibility in addressing short-term fluctuations in the demand for interpretation services. Currently, eight translators out of the 20 in the five translation sections are also interpreters.


The recruitment of freelancers who were part of the Junior Language Officers (JLOs) programme and the more efficient language testing for freelancers in the six ICAO languages continued in 2018. These two initiatives have contributed to the maintenance of dynamic and sustainable rosters, with a long-term positive impact on language service productivity.


“Green booth” and other "paper-smart" practices have been implemented in collaboration with the ICAO Conference, Security and General Services (CGS) and Environmental (ENV) units to help reduce the Organization’s carbon footprint.
