Cooperation with other United Nations Bodies and International Organizations

As recommended by the Aviation and Data Analysis Panel (ADAP), the Organization continued to coordinate the ICAO Statistics Programme with those of other international organizations.

ICAO collaborated with Airports Council International (ACI) with a view to developing a common airport traffic reporting form. ICAO and the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) continued to work together to study the relationship between tourists and passengers.

ICAO is currently working with the National Accounts Advisory Group under the United Nations Statistical Commission (UNSC), as well as with States and international organizations, to develop a standardized framework for the economic measurement of aviation activities, including aviation’s contribution to Gross Domestic Product (GDP), the number of jobs created by aviation, aviation consumption, and the impact of aviation on balance of payments.

ICAO is a member of the UNSC global working group which is currently working to establish standards on the technical and policy aspects of Big Data. The UNSC standards will be incorporated into the re-engineered applications that will enable ICAO to collect, process and analyse large data sets in a cost-effective and efficient manner.
