Under the framework of cooperation in the area of emergency preparedness and response to radiation incidents and emergencies, as defined in the Joint Radiation Emergency Management Plan of the International Organizations (EPR-JPLAN 2013), in November ICAO and the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) signed a practical arrangements document.
The goal of the document is to reinforce existing cooperation between the two organizations by describing the actions to be taken by the parties in the case of a radiation incident or emergency, particularly those with a potential or actual accidental release of radioactive material into the atmosphere.
