Established in Cairo, Egypt, in 1953, the ICAO Middle East (MID) Regional Office serves 15 Member States: Bahrain, Egypt, Iran, Iraq, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Libya, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Sudan, Syria, United Arab Emirates, and Yemen.

The continuous enhancement of global aviation safety and security remains essential to ensuring that air transport continues to be a key driver of sustainable economic and social development worldwide. ICAO and its Member States are committed to achieving a safe, secure, efficient, economically viable, and environmentally sustainable air transport system.
 

The ICAO MID Office:

• Maintains close coordination with its accredited States, relevant regional and sub-regional civil aviation organizations, and United Nations agencies and programmes operating within the Region.

   

• Facilitates interregional cooperation and supports the timely and consistent implementation of ICAO’s Strategic Objectives, policies, decisions, Standards and Recommended Practices (SARPs), and the provisions of the MID-Air Navigation Plan (ANP).

   

• Provides essential assistance and leads capacity-building initiatives to help States establish and sustain a harmonized, high-performance air navigation system focused on safe, orderly, and efficient air transport, in alignment with ICAO’s global standards.

   

• Works proactively to address regional challenges with the objective of achieving the highest levels of safety, security, and operational efficiency, while promoting sustainable and environmentally responsible growth of international civil aviation in the Middle East.
