#JoinAviation: A Global Call to Inspire the Next Generation

Aviation professionals in all areas of aviation and at all stages of their careers have the power to inspire the next generation. We launched the #JoinAviation campaign to invite pilots, engineers, air traffic controllers, educators, innovators, and others across the sector to share their insight on what makes aviation a rewarding and meaningful career. By highlighting your work, your journey, or your impact, you can encourage future talent to explore the opportunities that aviation offers. 

Whether you’re shaping innovation, ensuring safety, supporting humanitarian efforts, or mentoring new recruits, your voice can help grow a more diverse, skilled, and passionate global aviation community.

What is #JoinAviation?

The #JoinAviation campaign is a global initiative of ICAO’s Next Generation of Aviation Professionals (NGAP) Programme. It aims to inspire, educate, and attract new talent to aviation by showcasing the real people, diverse careers, and innovative initiatives shaping the future of this industry.

Through short videos, photos, and written stories—whether submitted to ICAO or shared on social media using the hashtag #JoinAviation—we’re giving the aviation community a platform to showcase what makes this sector so exciting, inclusive, and impactful now and in the future.

Who can participate?

We are welcoming and encouraging contributions from:

• Member States and Civil Aviation Authorities (CAAs)
• Aviation students and educators
• Aviation professionals across all roles (pilots, engineers, air traffic controllers, drone operators, and other less-known areas in the industry)
• Academic institutions and training centres
• Industry partners and international organizations  
• UN agencies and NGOs engaged in aviation or humanitarian work

• Aviation students and educators  
  • A university student sharing their journey to becoming a pilot  

  • A professor explaining how aviation education addresses emerging challenges 

     

• Emerging aviation professionals
  • A young air traffic controller discussing their training  

  • A recent graduate working in drone operations or airport management  

     

• Workforce development programmes  
  • A national upskilling initiative for aviation technicians 

  • A scholarship programme encouraging diversity in the aviation sector 

     

• Aviation innovation and sustainability projects
  • A Member State’s green airport initiative or SAF project

  • A young professional working on eVTOL or AI in ATM 

     

• Humanitarian aviation and global impact  
  • A logistics coordinator supporting UNHAS operations  
  • A State's aviation-supported medical relief programme Shape  

Submission Options

You can contribute in one of three ways:

1. Video submission

• Format: MP4 or MOV
• Length: 30–90 seconds
• Focus: Show aviation professionals or students in action; highlight real roles, training, or career paths
• Language: English preferred

2. Written story and photos

• Format: Word or PDF
• 1–5 high-resolution photos with captions
• Length: 300–600 words
• Content: Describe the programme or individual experience, including goals, outcomes, and advice for the next generation

3. Share on social media

• Post your story directly to LinkedIn, Instagram, Facebook, or X using the hashtag #JoinAviation
• Highlight your personal journey, a career milestone, or an inspiring initiative
• Be sure to tag ICAO so we see your message!

Submissions accepted from 15 October to 30  November 2025 .

Selected contributions will be featured on ICAO TV, ICAO social media, and UnitingAviation.com. Exceptional submissions may also be highlighted at future NGAP events or in ICAO publications.

By submitting content, you grant ICAO a non-exclusive right to publish, edit, and distribute the material. Attribution will be provided where possible.
