International Civil Aviation Day – 7 December

The United Nations General Assembly officially recognized 7 December as International Civil Aviation Day in 1996. The Day encourages awareness of the importance of international civil aviation to the sustainable development of Member States and supports ICAO’s leadership in fostering safe, secure, and environmentally responsible air transport for all. 

Under the theme “Safe Skies & Sustainable Future for All,” ICAO is highlighting its long-term Essential Aspirations that anchor ICAO’s Strategic Plan for 2050: 

Zero fatalities 

Net-zero carbon emissions 

Air Transport for All
