Further to the ICAO Council designating 2024 as the Year of Facilitation (FAL2024), ICAO, jointly with Airports Council International (ACI) and the International Air Transport Association (IATA), will conduct the Symposium on Accessibility in International Civil Aviation, to be held at ICAO Headquarters in Montréal, Canada, from 2 to 3 December 2024.
Inclusive and universally accessible Air Transport for Persons with Disabilities and Reduced Mobility
Under the proposed theme “Inclusive and universally accessible Air Transport for Persons with Disabilities and Reduced Mobility” the Symposium seeks to address facilitation of the transport by air of persons with disabilities and reduced mobilities and improve their air travel experience, aligning with ICAO Assembly Resolution A41-15 Accessibility in International Civil Aviation.
The Symposium aims to address the challenges and efforts of States, industry and other stakeholders and to enhance international collaboration for effective solutions on accessibility. It will be of benefit to several agencies and aviation stakeholders such as border control authorities, airport and aircraft operators, advocacy groups and other interested parties from all Member States.
An Exhibition will compliment the Symposium, displaying a range of practicable accessibility solutions and services.
