Background
The Joint UNWTO/ICAO High-level Forum on Tourism and Air Transport for Development will be held on 14 September 2015 in Medellin, Colombia. This event will coincide with the General Assembly of the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), which will be held from 12 to 17 September 2015, hosted by the Republic of Colombia. With a view to further enhancing the symbiotic relationship between aviation and tourism, high level participants will be invited to join this Forum.
In line with the ongoing cooperation between ICAO and the UNWTO, the main objective of the Joint High-level Forum is to strengthen cooperation between both aviation and tourism sectors, by addressing today’s challenges related to policy convergence, connectivity and competitiveness, as well as travel facilitation, in order to harness the full potential of the sectors to create employment, drive inclusive growth, foster sustainable development and support the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
