The ICAO Aviation Climate Week 2027 will provide an opportunity to take stock of progress in the implementation of environmental measures and support aviation’s transition towards net-zero carbon emissions by 2050, including aircraft technology, operational improvements, aviation cleaner energies and CORSIA. The event will bring together States, industry stakeholders, international organizations and financial institutions to exchange implementation experiences, highlight progress, and discuss possible means to address remaining challenges. The week will also provide an opportunity to review progress since CAAF/3 and contribute to preparations for CAAF/4.
Preliminary Programme
Opening
Setting the Scene: Progress Since CAAF/3 and Emerging Priorities
Review of progress achieved since CAAF/3, identify emerging priorities for the next phase of action.
Reducing Aviation’s Climate Impact: Technology, Operations and Innovations
Explore the latest developments in aircraft technologies, operational improvements and innovative solutions aimed at reducing aviation's climate impact. Discussions will examine progress in mitigating both CO₂ and non-CO₂ aviation emissions, highlighting emerging opportunities, challenges and their role in advancing a more sustainable aviation sector.
Airport Infrastructure, Operations and Climate Adaptation
Building on the outcomes of the ICAO Green Airports Seminar 2026, the sessions will examine airport decarbonization, infrastructure development and operational measures supporting aviation’s long-term transition. Climate adaptation and resilience measures for airports and infrastructure will also be addressed.
Delivering Aviation Cleaner Energy Solutions
Review the latest developments in Sustainable Aviation Fuels (SAF), Lower Carbon Aviation Fuels (LCAF) and other aviation cleaner energies. Discussions will explore the roles of governments, airlines, airports, fuel producers and other stakeholders in scaling supply, strengthening infrastructure and addressing deployment challenges.
Policy and Planning
Discuss national, regional and international policy frameworks supporting the implementation of the CAAF/3 Global Framework. The sessions will assess successful policy approaches, identify barriers and challenges, and explore how policy frameworks can support investment, accelerate implementation, and strengthen global aviation cleaner energy development.
LTAG Monitoring and Reporting
Taking stock of global progress towards ICAO's LTAG and the collective CAAF/3 Vision for aviation cleaner energies. Through the latest data, tracking tools and analytical insights, the session will provide a comprehensive picture of where international aviation stands today, highlight key achievements, identify remaining gaps and explore priorities to support preparations for CAAF/4.
State Action Plans and ACT-LTAG Programme
Explore how State Action Plans and the ACT-LTAG Programme are supporting States in translating the collective climate goal into implementation. The sessions will highlight implementation experiences, capacity-building efforts and opportunities to strengthen international cooperation.
CORSIA
Discuss progress under CORSIA, including lessons from the Pilot and First Phases, States’ experience under the ACT-CORSIA programme, and recent implementation and policy developments as the Second Phase begins in 2027. Discussions will also highlight the significant momentum of CORSIA Eligible Fuels (CEF) and Eligible Emissions Units (CEEUs), including sustainability and eligibility certifications and market access opportunities.
ICAO ACT-SAF Programme
Updates on ICAO’s ACT-SAF programme supporting States in assessing, developing and scaling aviation cleaner energy projects, with a particular focus on developing countries and States having particular needs.
Financing and ICAO Finvest Hub
Review progress under the ICAO Finvest Hub and the financing mechanisms supporting aviation cleaner energy projects. Discussions will explore opportunities to mobilize public and private investment, strengthen cooperation among governments, development finance institutions and industry, and accelerate implementation of the CAAF/3 Global Framework in the lead-up to CAAF/4. This session will also serve as a teaser for the following ICAO Global Sustainable Aviation Marketplace (GSAM) from 3 June 2027.
Looking ahead to CAAF/4
A high-level discussion on priorities, challenges and opportunities leading-up to CAAF/4, drawing on insights and outcomes from the Aviation Climate Week 2027 to help shape the agenda and expected outcomes of the Conference.
