Fuelling the Transition: Charting Real Progress Toward Net-Zero
The ICAO Aviation Climate Week 2027, under the theme of 'Fuelling the Transition: Charting Real Progress Toward Net-Zero', and Global Sustainable Aviation Marketplace (GSAM) 2027 will be held from 31 May to 4 June 2027, at the ICAO Headquarters, Montréal, Canada, as an in-person event.
Held consecutively over one week, ICAO Aviation Climate Week 2027 and GSAM will provide a unique opportunity for stakeholders from across the aviation ecosystem to come together, exchange knowledge, and build partnerships. The combined programme is designed to foster meaningful connections between policy discussions, innovative solutions, and practical implementation.
From Ambition to Implementation
From 31 May to 2 June 2027, the ICAO Aviation Climate Week will take stock of progress across key areas of action, including technology, operational improvements, cleaner energies to reduce the environmental impacts of aviation. The event will bring together States, industry stakeholders, international organizations and financial institutions to share implementation experiences, highlight progress, and discuss possible means to address remaining challenges, including in policy and planning, regulatory framework, monitoring and reporting, capacity -building, implementation support, and financing. Thus, the event will help monitor progress on the implementation of ICAO Global Framework towards the collective global aspirational Vision and the Long-Term Global Aspirational Goal (LTAG) of net-zero carbon emissions by 2050. Discussions will also cover the implementation of CORSIA as it enters its second phase from 2027.
From 3 to 4 June 2027, the ICAO GSAM will provide a platform to help advance aviation decarbonization projects from development towards financing and implementation, in support of the 2050 LTAG. Bringing together project sponsors, governments, capital providers, public finance institutions, industry and implementation partners, GSAM will facilitate practical engagement on SAF, LCAF and other aviation cleaner energy solutions. The event will feature project showcases and focused discussions on project bankability, financing models, risk-mitigation instruments and public-private partnerships. Particular attention will be given to strengthening project-development capacity and improving access to finance for developing countries and States having particular needs.
Capacity Building: Opportunities under ACT-SAF Programme
The Week will provide a unique opportunity to join the ICAO Assistance, Capacity-building and Training for Sustainable Aviation Fuels (ACT-SAF) programme and create synergies between ACT-SAF Partners. Detailed information on the ACT-SAF programme can be found on the dedicated ACT-SAF public website and additional States and organizations willing to become partners are invited to contact the ICAO Secretariat: officeenv [at] icao.int (officeenv[at]icao[dot]int).
