2nd Air Transport Symposium

The International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), in partnership with the Air Transport Research Society (ATRS), will convene the second ICAO Air Transport Symposium (IATS 2014), entitled “Development of Air Transport: Setting the course” at ICAO Headquarters in Montréal, Canada from 7 to 8 May 2014. 

The Symposium will aim at providing an updated picture of the new regulatory framework to be implemented for the air transport industry at large. An outlook into the challenges posed for the sustainable development of air transport will be provided in relation to specific areas such as market access, air carrier ownership and control, consumer protection, fair competition, taxation and charges.

The event is expected to attract a wide variety of experts from the air transport industry, civil aviation authorities, academics, air transport lawyers and consultants. It is expected that the outcome of the interactive discussions taking place during the Symposium will provide valuable views from civil aviation stakeholders and assist in the implementation of the recommendations of the Sixth Worldwide Air Transport Conference (ATConf/6), as endorsed by the 38th Session of the Assembly, within the framework of the Strategic Objective: Economic Development of Air Transport.
