The third meeting of the Strategic Review Board (SRB) for Uzbekistan’s Country Strategic Plan of Action (COSPA) was successfully held in Bukhara, bringing together national authorities, international organizations, and industry partners to review progress and define priorities for the programme’s final year.

The meeting, co-chaired by the ICAO EUR/NAT Regional Director and the Civil Aviation Agency of Uzbekistan, acknowledged achievements in strengthening aviation safety oversight, institutional capacity, and technical competencies, supported by key partners including the FAA (USA), DGAC and BEA (France), Airbus, Boeing, IATA, ACI World, and ACI Europe.
Participants highlighted the continued growth of Uzbekistan’s aviation sector and emphasized the importance of maintaining high safety standards through enhanced regulatory compliance, proactive risk management, and a strong safety culture across all stakeholders.
Key priorities identified for the final year of COSPA include reinforcing safety oversight capabilities, addressing workforce capacity challenges, advancing institutional reforms, and enhancing industry coordination, including the establishment of local runway safety teams.
The SRB also underscored the importance of ensuring the sustainability of achieved results and agreed to develop a roadmap for continued safety improvements beyond the programme.
