Course Description:

This course aims to enable aviation security instructors to perform a competency-based and effective role in the delivery of their national aviation security (AVSEC) training activities, through the application of the relevant competencies and in accordance with Annex 17 - Aviation Security and the ICAO Aviation Security Manual (Doc 8973 – Restricted). 
 

In order to receive a certificate of successful completion, participants will be required to pass an end of course exam based on Annex 17 - Aviation Security, the ICAO Aviation Security Manual (Doc 8973 - Restricted), and materials presented during the course.

Entry requirements:

• Participants should satisfy the following criteria: 

• Have written and oral command of the language of instruction;

• Be currently assigned as an instructor or pending assignment as an instructor upon successful completion of this course; and

• Have working knowledge of Annex 17 and the ICAO Aviation Security Manual (Doc 8973 -Restricted).
   

Target audience:

Any personnel involved in the development, management and/or instruction of training materials related to a civil aviation security training programme, such as:

• State's appropriate authority for aviation security involved in the instructional duties or implementation of training programmes;

• Airport operators or aviation security services providers; and

• Other government or industry elements directly involved in the implementation of security measures.

   

Course objectives:

The course aims to enable participants to:
 

• Identify the role and responsibility of the aviation security instructor; 

• Identify aviation security training requirements and the principles of learning;

• Identify the elements necessary for course organization and preparation; 

• Demonstrate knowledge and instructional skills by delivering a pre-prepared presentation;

• Describe the four steps in the evaluation process for assessing trainee’s performance; and

• Deliver individual presentation on aviation security subject matter selected from an ASTP.
