Progress on ICAO’s Strategic Objectives and Global Plans — Air Navigation Capacity and Efficiency — Global Air Navigation Plan

Global Air Navigation Plan

Since the publication of the sixth edition of the Global Air Navigation Plan (GANP) in 2019, ICAO has been working with air navigation service providers (ANSPs), regulators and industry stakeholders on small amendments to the GANP to keep it current with evolving technology supporting aircraft operations and air traffic management. The launch of the Complete Air Traffic System (CATS) Global Council vision for 2045 by the Civil Air Navigation Services Organisation (CANSO) in 2021 demonstrated the GANP’s alignment with the needs and vision of the industry. As part of this work, an updated performance framework, including performance indicators for different key performance areas, was developed to support the implementation of aviation system block upgrades and will be proposed for endorsement by the ICAO Assembly at its 41st Session.
