ICAO, The World Bank and Routes convened a Global Aviation Strategy Summit, a gathering of aviation market leaders, in Vancouver, Canada. This was the sixth in an annual series of such events organized by ICAO and The World Bank and the third event where Routes was an associated partner.

This latest Global Aviation Strategy Summit was co-located with the 16th World Route Development Forum at the Vancouver Convention Centre. Fundamental themes of concern to the air transport industry were addressed in sessions covering topics such as the aviation industry today, the environmental challenges and opportunities for the aviation industry, aviation as an economic development catalyst, and airports and airlines as drivers of urban renewal and economic development.

This unique event offered participants the added dimension of dynamic interactions between the speakers, industry leaders and other participants. It provided vibrant and stimulating exchanges on topical issues and future strategies of the industry in an action-oriented setting, with the aim of arriving at a broad-based consensus on effective partnership of industry leaders that would meet these challenges.

This Summit was a "must attend" for professionals from civil aviation authorities and the transport Ministries, as well as personnel from organizations directly involved in or supporting the aviation business. It benefited more particularly, regulators and senior executives of the industry who have the drive and commitment to embrace creative solutions to the challenges facing air transport.

Participation at the Summit was free.
