​Types of Operations

Operations need to be conducted in a safe manner

  • Humanitarian efforts (search & rescue, firefighting, infrastructure monitoring and research & development (R&D)
  • Airwork including all form of photography and video surveillance
  • Carrying loads or discharging substances (e.g. crop dusting, insect control)

 

2. What Are They Flying?

UA uses range from toys for the hobbyist to tools for the professional users with weights ranging from the tens of grams to thousands of kilograms

  • DJI, Parrot usually 0.5kg-3kg typically visual line-of-sight (VLOS) operations
  • Professional octocopter – typically ranging between 5kg-30kG, visual line-of-sight (VLOS) and extended visual line-of-sight (EVLOS) operations
  • Fixed wing aircraft VLOS remote radio control single aircraft to beyond visual line-of-sight (BVLOS) operations.

 

3. Where Are They Flying?

Areas of potential conflict with manned aviation: UA may require permission prior to operation.
