Currency and exchange rate

The currency in Saudi Arabia is the Saudi Riyal (SAR). Currency exchange services are available at King Khalid International Airport and can also be done through local banks. ATMs can be found everywhere across Riyadh. The Saudi Arabian Monetary Authority (SAMA) official exchange rates for the main currencies as of close of business 22 March 2024 are:

 

  • 1 USD = 3.7500 SAR
  • 1 EURO = 4.0729 SAR
  • 1 GBP = 4.7503 SAR

Bank services

International credit cards such as Visa and MasterCard are the most accepted credit cards, and some establishments also accept American Express cards. Contactless payments such as Apple Pay, are available at all establishments and are the most used form of payment across the Kingdom. Financial services such as Western Union and MoneyGram are also available.


Health requirements

It is advisable that delegates take out personal medical insurance for the duration of the trip.

The supply voltage in Riyadh is 220V (Type G Plug).
