Game-changing Technologies Driving Seamless Border Management

The International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) will hold its sixteenth Traveller Identification Programme Symposium (TRIP2021) from 25 to 26 May 2021. The Symposium is a world-class forum for the exchange of information on all aspects of traveller identification management and the ICAO Traveller Identification Programme (TRIP) Strategy. Discussions at this year’s Symposium will focus on the need for innovative technologies in addressing border control challenges, a key point of the ICAO TRIP Strategy. The theme will be: “Game-changing Technologies Driving Seamless Border Management”.

TRIP2021 will be followed by the first joint ICAO/International Criminal Police Organization (INTERPOL) Passenger Data Exchange Forum from 27 to 28 May 2021. In line with United Nations Security Council Resolutions 2178 (2014) and 2396 (2017) which reaffirm the importance of advance passenger information (API) and passenger name record (PNR) data systems for an efficient and secure border control management to combat terrorism, the ICAO/INTERPOL Passenger Data Exchange Forum will share strategies and provide additional best practices, procedures, specifications and technical mechanisms related to implementation modalities for API and PNR data systems.
