A webinar/meeting of the ICAO EUR/NAT ENV Task Force dedicated to the State Action Plan initiative was held on 29 February 2024. The meeting was attended by Representatives from 39 States and 4 Regional Organizations (EASA, ECAC, EUROCONTROL and the European Commission).
The Secretariat provided insights on the update on the ICAO Guidance on the Development of States' Action Plans on CO2 Emissions Reduction Activities (ICAO Document 9988) as well as on how to update a State Action Plan in line with the LTAG and the ICAO Global Framework for SAF, LCAF and other Aviation Cleaner Energies (adopted by CAAF/3 on 24 November 2023).
The State Representative from Türkiye shared its first-hand experience in developing and updating their State Action Plan including the list of selected national emissions mitigation measures and a roadmap on the development of SAF.
ECAC provided information on the ECAC/EU approach to State Action Plans for the common section of the State Action Plan encouraging States to include their national mitigation measures as well.
The ICAO EUR/NAT Office provides implementation support to States through various means, including the ENV Task Force meetings, ACT-CORSIA and ACT-SAF programmes.
