The ICAO EUR/NAT staff together with the ECAC staff and with the participation of Ms. Varianne Ang Poupon, Mr. Bertrand De Lacombe and Mr. Jerome Lesourd, from DGAC France, joined, on Monday 9 March 2020, all the UN organizations and agencies, States and Industry, observing the International Women's Day, celebrating change and change makers and identifying ways of bringing about real change for women and girls in aviation and beyond, under this year's theme "I am Generation Equality: Realizing Women's Rights".
The ICAO EUR/NAT Gender Focal Point, Ms. Mihaela Mladin Brunette, presented updates regarding the 2020 milestones at UN level and ICAO's Gender Equality Programme. Ms. Leyla Suleymanova, the Alternate, presented women's participation at the level of the North Atlantic regional working groups and the progress made.
In spite of the current challenging time, the reduced event allowed participants to share their commitment to continue work towards making aviation a sector in which women can succeed and can fully contribute to a safe, secure, efficient, economically viable, and environmentally sound air transport system for all, leaving no one behind.
