ICAO AVSEC auditor’s re-certification course

Paris, France 24 to 28 November 2014 - Two ICAO audit officers from Headquarters Montreal conducted one week an ICAO auditor’s re-certification course to prepare and recertify ICAO AVSEC auditors from Member States in the EUR/NAT regions for the Universal Security Audit Programme (USAP) Continuous Monitoring Approach (CMA) which will be launched in January 2015. 


 
21 AVSEC experts from 11 States completed successfully the intensive training certifying them to use the USAP-CMA methodology and tools for the preparation, conduct and reporting of USAP-CMA activities.
This innovative, dynamic and tailor-made approach to security auditing combines both, a continuous monitoring and risk-based elements, while maintaining the rigor of the audit process and methodology relying on international best practices. The USAP-CMA will be launched in January 2015 to ensure ongoing compliance of Member States with ICAO security related provisions, while assessing States oversight capabilities making effective and efficient use of the resources available to the programme.
 
Similar auditor’s re-certification as well as certification courses for new auditors were/are conducted in all ICAO regions during 2014 and early 2015 to properly assure the availability of trained professionals. A second course for newly to certify auditors will be conducted in the ICAO EUR/NAT office from 9 to 17 February 2015.
