Opening of a new ICAO Aviation Security Training Centre (ASTC) in Almaty /Kazakhstan

In presence of the Vice-Minister of Transport and Communications, Mr Azat Bekturov, from the Republic of Kazakhstan, a new ICAO Aviation Security Training Centre (ASTC) was opened in Almaty, Kazakhstan, by the Regional Director from the ICAO EUR/NAT Office, Mr. Luis Fonseca de Almeida. The Civil Aviation Academy (CAA) in Almaty fulfills all ICAO requirements for an ASTC and received its endorsement in August 2013. During the official opening ceremony of the Training Centre, the CAA Almaty was welcomed into the global ASTC family and the ICAO flag was proudly raised.

The ASTC Almaty is the first ICAO ASTC in Central Asia and complements the existing ASTCs in Moscow and Kyiv offering ICAO AVSEC Training in the Russian Language. A total of eight Aviation Security Training Centers located in Brussels, Toulouse , Casablanca, Doncaster (UK), Moscow, Kyiv(2) and now the most recent in Almaty form a network of European ICAO institutions providing qualified AVSEC training for States and Industry in four of the official ICAO languages (English, French, Russian , Arabic).
