Henry Gourdji - Head of Strategic Planning, Coordination and Partnerships – ICAO

As Head of Strategic Planning, Coordination and Partnerships within the Office of the Secretary General at ICAO, Henry’s primarily objective is to coordinate high-level and cross-cutting policies and programmes among the different Bureaux and Offices (including Regional Offices) of the Organization. His office is also responsible for facilitating the development of partnerships, as well as to leverage such strategic partnerships in air transport systems’ enhancements in Member States and the mobilization of resources needed to implement necessary improvements. Prior to joining ICAO, he held various management positions with Transport Canada and was the Chief Executive Officer of an aviation firm in Montreal.

 

Capt. Houston Mills - UPS Global Aviation Strategy, Safety & Public Policy Director

As Global Aviation Strategy & Public Policy Director, Captain Mills advocates for federal aviation policy and collaborates with domestic and international industry groups to harmonize aviation safety standards and sustainability rules. Prior to his current position, Houston served as UPS’s Director of Airline Safety and Compliance and as UPS International Chief Pilot. Houston began his aviation career in 1985 as a Marine Corps officer and F/A-18 fighter pilot where he was certified as an air combat tactics instructor (ACTI).  He served the United States in Operations Desert Shield, Desert Storm, Restore Hope and Southern Watch.

 

Haldane Dodd - Head of Communications - Air Transport Action Group

As Head of Communications at ATAG, Haldane coordinates the cross aviation industry communications initiative enviro.aero, working with ACI, IATA, CANSO, Airbus, Boeing, GE Aviation, Rolls-Royce, Bombardier and CFM to increase dialogue between the industry and the flying public on aviations environmental commitments. Previously, Haldane was communications manager with Airports Council International world headquarters where he worked on issues such as the environment, security and airport economics.

 

Christopher Fabian - Senior Adviser, Innovation, United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF)

Taught in Lebanon and launched start-ups in East Africa and Egypt. 2006, joined UNICEF; since 2007, Co-Creator and Co-Leader, Innovation Unit, New York. Working with UNICEF's 135 country offices, the Innovation Unit's research and development priorities focus on near-term challenges in the world's most difficult operating environments. The Unit also crafts strategic options for innovation on a three-to-five year horizon. Has co-created and taught the Design for UNICEF course, New York University. Has also taught and lectured at Columbia University, Harvard University and IIT Delhi. Recognized as one of 100 most influential people, TIME Magazine (2013).

 

Nancy N. Young - Vice President, Environmental Affairs

An environmental attorney, Young directs the A4A environmental sustainability programs, represents the A4A airlines in international negotiations regarding aircraft noise and emissions standards, and provides counsel on other environmental issues of significance. In 2015, Ms. Young was appointed by United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon to serve on his High-Level Advisory Group for Sustainable Transport. The Advisory Group concluded its work in late 2016 with the launch of its analysis and recommendations report, Mobilizing Sustainable Transport for Development.

 

Leslie Cary - Chief, Remotely Piloted Aircraft Systems Section - International Civil Aviation Organization

Ms. Cary is responsible for managing the work programme and coordinating all developments related to UAS / RPAS within the ICAO framework, including UAS traffic management (UTM). This involves working with Technical Panels, Study Groups, Advisory Groups and Task Forces and relevant external bodies on development of Standards and Recommended Practices, procedures and guidance material which will establish the basis for global interoperability and harmonization of RPAS, UAS and UTM.

 

Dale Smith - Regional Director, Environmental Strategy, Commercial Airplanes

As the regional director for environmental strategy in commercial airplanes at Boeing, Mr. Smith is responsible for preparing and delivering on environmental strategy analysis and development as well as industry engagement for commercial airplane business.
