ICAO Museum

At the initiative of the President of the Council, the ICAO Museum was inaugurated on 5 December 2014 on the occasion of the 70th Anniversary of the signing of the Chicago Convention.

The ICAO museum serves to highlight the many achievements in civil aviation throughout its history, and portrays ICAO’s past, present and future priorities. A unique exhibit of items of art and artefacts has been created under the theme “The History of Civil Aviation and ICAO through ICAO’s Collection”. The exhibit benefits from a considerable number of gifts and artefacts of historic relevance, which were donated by Member States and other institutions to ICAO.

Even as it celebrates the unique contributions of civil aviation to all nations and peoples of the world, the new museum serves to inspire and educate the many visitors to ICAO’s Headquarters each year, as well as to encourage present and future generations to contribute to the development and sustainable growth of civil aviation. The museum will also be a useful and enjoyable place to visit for members of the local community, whether for field trips to educate students or for any other members of the public who may have an interest in ICAO’s work and its many contributions to global air transport.
