Powers and Duties of the ICAO Assembly

 

As established under the Chicago Convention, and in addition to those powers relating to its administration and conduct, the powers and duties of the ICAO Assembly include:

 

​-​Electing the 36 States to serve on the ICAO Council.
​-​Examine and take action on reports or other matters the Council refers to it.
-​Vote on ICAO’s budget and financial arrangements and review its financial reports.​
-​Refer matters to the Council or any other body within its sphere of action.​
​-​Delegate power or authority to the Council necessary for the discharge of its duties.
​-Consider proposals for the modification or amendment of the provisions of the Chicago Convention.​
​-Deal with any matter not specifically assigned to the Council but appropriate to consideration under the Chicago Convention.​
