With the aim of improving the coordination and implementation of North Atlantic (NAT) programmes and projects, the Fifth Meeting of the North Atlantic Procedures and Operations Group (NAT POG/05) was held from 19 to 23 March 2018 in Santa Maria, Portugal.
The NAT POG/05 meeting achieved important goals on the subject of the implementation of NAT Data Link Mandate (DLM), Reduced Lateral Separation Minimum (RLatSM), Reduced Longitudinal Separation Minimum (RLatSM), Space-Based ADS-B Integration into ATM Systems and other programmes.
The implementation took place on 29 March 2018 which went without any safety issues and results in substantial benefits for aircraft operators in terms of optimised trajectories, reduced fuel consumption and CO2 emissions.
