Second Session of the Virtual 56th meeting of the North Atlantic Systems Planning Group (NAT SPG/56-2) - 26 to 27 January 2021

Due to the on-going COVID-19 pandemic crisis and consequential travel restrictions, the North Atlantic Systems Planning Group (NAT SPG) conducted the second session of its 56th Meeting on 26 and 27 January 2021 to address a number of items in order to advance the overall NAT work programme.

The Group considered actions to be taken for the restart and recovery of NAT operations in a safe and efficient manner, in particular the termination of the temporary accommodation of the NAT Data Link Mandate, which was agreed to take place on the Aeronautical Information Regulation And Control (AIRAC) date of 25 FEB 2021.

The meeting also reviewed and approved updates to a number of NAT documentation, including the NAT 2019 Annual Safety Report, and the continuation of work on the ADS-B Height Monitoring System and the NAT Traffic Forecast for 2020-2025.

In considering the organization of the NAT meetings in the first half of 2021, the NAT SPG agreed that face-to-face meetings were preferable, however due to the on-going travel restrictions, all NAT SPG and Subgroups' meetings for the first half of 2021, including the first session of the NAT SPG/57, would be held virtually. It was therefore agreed that the NAT SPG/57-1 be conducted by virtual meeting during the week of 21 to 24 June 2021.

A total of 50 participants from 12 States, 5 International Organizations (EUROCONTROL, ICAO, IATA IBAC, IFALPA) and the NAT Central Monitoring Agency (NAT CMA) participated at this NAT SPG meeting.
