Page Content Objectives ICAO and the Korea Aerospace University have established a partnership to deliver the ICAO and University of Waterloo Fundamentals of the Air Transport System (FATS), and the ICAO Safety Management Training Programme (SMTP). Description The Courses are especially designed for undergraduate and graduate participants and aim to foster professional competence with the orientation to aviation and aerospace. The Fundamentals of the Air Transport System (FATS) is composed of online (web-based) lectures covering diverse activities and regulations of civil aviation: air law, aircraft, operations, navigation, airports, security, environment, accidents, and safety. This Course will provide fundamental knowledge and inspire individuals about the different fields of aviation. This Course targets next generation aviation professionals (NGAP) as well as junior professionals transitioning into aviation. Following completion of the online lectures, classroom revisits the content and further discussions follow as a part of flipped learning class. Safety Management Training Programme (SMTP) is online (web-based) lectures providing State regulatory and administrative personnel involved State Safety Programme (SSP) implementation and/or operation with the basic knowledge, skills, and attitude to advocate safety management system (SMS) requirements and guidance material, as well as the acceptance/ oversight of service providers’ SMS. This Course will be most beneficial for professionals who work for a State regulatory body involved in the planning, development, and implementation of SSP, and for those professionals working for aviation service providers involved in planning, development and implementation of SMS.
