ICAO Training Scholarships

 Scholarship Allocation Procedure

The ICAO Global Aviation Training (GAT) Office has established a scholarship allocation procedure for ICAO Training Packages (ITPs). Scholarships will be provided to eligible trainees from civil aviation regulatory bodies, for ITPs delivered at ICAO Headquarters and Regional Offices. Scholarships cover tuition fees of ITPs only. Other costs, such as transportation, accommodations, daily subsistence allowance (DSA), and medical travel insurance, will be borne by the applicant or the employee.

Scholarships are established for eligible trainees originating from States which in the context of capacity-building efforts within ICAO's No Country Left Behind initiative are endeavoring to either meet or maintain their Effective Implementation (EI) rates provided they meet the following criteria:

  • the applicant must be employed by a civil aviation authority (CAA), a Regional Safety Oversight Organization (RSOO), Regional Accident or Incident Investigation Organization (RAIO), Airport or Cooperative Development of Operational Safety and Continuing Airworthiness Programmes (COSCAPs);
  • the application must be supported by an official recommendation letter from a Senior Manager, such as a Director General of a CAA, an Executive Director of a RSOO or a RAIO, or the Head of an Aviation Organization; and
  • the selection of beneficiaries will be conducted jointly between the ICAO Regional Offices and the GAT Office.

Note 1.— Please note that ITPs scheduled to take place in under eight weeks will not appear in the drop-down menu of courses, in order to give recipients ample time to make travel arrangements.

Note 2.— A State will be able to nominate two scholarship candidates yearly
