Fundamentals of Cybersecurity for Aviation

 

Objectives

 

ICAO and Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University (ERAU) have established a partnership to deliver a course on Fundamentals of Cybersecurity for Aviation. This course is designed to introduce aviation practitioners to the domain of cybersecurity, focusing on impacts to the aviation field.

 

Description

 

The Course is currently under development. The expected duration is 40 hours, and the delivery method is blended (classroom and e-learning).

 

Expected outcome

 

Upon successful completion of this programme, participants will:

  • Apply cybersecurity concepts to the aviation industry;
  • Analyze cybersecurity actors and behaviors in the aviation environment;
  • Evaluate risk and threat levels of the cybersecurity domain;
  • Interpret cryptographic and encryption requirements of the aviation environment;
  • Diagram cybersecurity infrastructure and its impacts on traditional avionics;
  • Classify avionics and cybersecurity assets within legal and governmental policy frameworks;
  • Create a cloud computing resource to appraise cybersecurity incursion vectors; and
  • Anticipate how future changes in the cybersecurity domain will impact flight operations.
