Executive Committee Completes its Work
The Executive Committee completed its review of a number of draft reports to the Plenary on items it had considered, and took the following actions:
| WP/213 | Report on Agenda Item 21 - Environmental protection | Approved with amendments. The Committee agreed to recommend to the Plenary adoption of Resolution 21/1, subject to changes to Appendix B. |
| WP/212 | Report on Agenda Item 17 -Safety Oversight | Approved with amendments. The Committee agreed to recommend to the Plenary adoption of Resolution 17/1, with amendments. |
| WP/210 | Report on Agenda Item 18 - Shortcomings and deficiencies in the air navigation field | Approved without change. The Committee agreed to recommend to the Plenary adoption of Resolution 18/1, with a minor editorial amendment. |
| WP/217 | Report on Agenda Item 7 - Annual Reports of the Council to the Assembly for 1995, 1996 and 1997 | Approved with amendments. The Committee agreed to recommend to the Plenary adoption of Resolutions 7/1, 7/2, 7/3 and 7/4, subject to amendments to Resolutions 7/1. |

International Conference on the Authentic Chinese Text
The Diplomatic Conference completed its work and adopted the authentic Chinese Text of the Chicago Convention. The signing ceremony relating to the Final Act of the Diplomatic Conference on Air Law, dealing with the authentic Chinese Text of the Chicago Convention and its related Protocol, the Protocol on the Authentic Six-Language Text of the Convention on International Civil Aviation, took place at ICAO Headquarters on 1 October 1998.
