Competency-Based Training

This Implementation Package (iPack) is a self-contained package aimed to guide and assist civil aviation entities and any civil aviation personnel responsible for training, to implement competency-based training in their organization.

It includes documentation, tools and a course to guide and assist personnel responsible for training in addressing performance gaps through developing competency-based training aligned with relevant guidance material from ICAO’s Global Aviation Training (GAT).

A dedicated subject matter expert (SME) on competency-based training development will work on a real course development project with the personnel responsible for training. Before the deployment, customers of this iPack will be requested to identify two topics for course development, or existing courses that it wishes to update or transform to a competency-based approach. After delivering the Training Developers Course (TDC) onsite, the SME will then split the group in two and will support the development process of the selected courses until the two courses are validated.

GOAL

The goal of this iPack is to guide and assist civil aviation entities such as Civil Aviation Authorities (CAAs), Civil Aviation Training Centres (CATCs), and any other civil aviation personnel responsible for training, to develop a competency-based training package.
