RPAS Workshops

ICAO Remotely Piloted Aircraft Systems (RPAS) Workshops

The RPAS workshops provide to States, international organizations and stakeholders first-hand information on RPAS related SARPs and guidance material which will assist the State regulatory and administrative personnel involved in the development and implementation of their RPAS regulations as well as the certification and oversight of such activities. They also provide guidance to operators and other parties involved with RPAS operations.

The RPAS workshops offer a unique opportunity for rule-making authorities, air navigation service providers, industry partners, international organizations and other stakeholders to share knowledge and experiences.

Participants acquire knowledge regarding the ongoing work by ICAO regarding the development of the international regulatory framework through Standards and Recommended Practices (SARPs), as well as procedures and guidance material contained in Manual on Remotely Piloted Aircraft Systems (RPAS) Doc 10019.

The intended outcomes of RPAS Workshops include, among others:

  • Staff members of Civil Aviation Authorities will be able to identify the role of the State in regulatory development as well as the responsibilities in overseeing  RPAS operations.
  • Staff members of Air Navigation Service Providers (ANSPs) will be able to identify the issues to be addressed when integrating RPAS into the ATM system
  • Participants will prioritize the exchange of RPAS related information among States and other stakeholders leading to effective RPAS integration
