H7N9 Outbreak not a Threat to Travel or Trade

MONTRÉAL, 5 April 2013 – The World Health Organization (WHO) is not recommending any travel or trade restrictions as a result of the recent outbreak of the influenza A(H7N9) virus in China.

To date, the total number of confirmed cases of human infection with influenza A(H7N9) virus in China is 16, including six deaths.

ICAO has been working very closely with the WHO and other stakeholders on pandemic-related issues since 2006, through a multi-sector/multi-stakeholder network known as the Collaborative Arrangement for the Prevention and Management of Public Health Events in Civil Aviation (CAPSCA).
